Uk Gamblers Make Up a Third of All European Web Gamblers

The online wagering industry in the UK has doubled in five years, with in excess of a million gamblers regularly gambling using the web. According to a poll conducted by the Dept. of Culture, Media and Sport, UK bettors make up about one-third of Europe’s estimated total of three point three million web gamblers.

The average amount bet by each gambler is estimated at one thousand pounds, with the European business now valued at £3 500 000 000 each year.

Among the 70 web gambling sites in the UK, none are gaming web sites promoting card games such as poker and chemin de fer. A majority of the planet’s 2,000 net gambling sites are stationed in locations with questionable web wagering standards. Antigua and Costa Rica account for more than 1,000 sites between them.

The Gov’t in the UK is hoping to introduce regulations and a tax setup to control the working of the web gaming sector. With this type of regulatory framework in place, net betting activities would be monitored and the industry will acquire even greater heights in the near future.
